Follow the directions below to remove the basket drive & brake assembly:
Disconnect the washer from the wall outlet Turn the water faucets off and remove the fill hoses the from the water valve (put a towel on the floor under the fill hoses to catch any water dripping from the hoses) Make sure that there is no water on the washer and remove the drain hose (put a towel on the floor under the drain hose to catch any water left on the hose and the pump) Open the controls panel Remove the cabinet Remove the agitator Remove the tub cover To remove the tub cover, press down on the cover and unhook the holding tabs Now you will need to use a spanner nut wrench to remove the spanner nut After removing the spanner nut, you will need to remove the spin drum To remove the spin drum you'll need to rock it from side to side until it breaks loose and you could take it out Remove the basket drive block by tapping it up with a hammer until it comes out Now you will need to lay down the washer on the floor. Make sure you put or a rug or something else on the floor to protect the washer Disconnect the hoses from the pump Disconnect the wire harness from the motor and make sure they are not attached to the gearcase before removing the gearcase Unscrew the three gearcase holding screws or bolts and remove the gearcase Next you will need to turn the brake cam driver counterclockwise to compress the brake and as you turn it, start like unscrewing it (it is not screwed in, but the unscrewing motion seems to help getting the basket drive & brake tube out
Follow the directions below to install the basket drive & brake assembly:
Start by installing the basket drive & brake tube Grab the brake cam and turn it counterclockwise while pushing the basket drive & brake assembly all the way in/li> Make sure to have the sprint at about 12 o'clock and brake cam at about 6 o'clock Install the gear case and tighten the three holding screws or bolts Connect the wire harness to the motor and secure it to the gearcase Install the hoses to the pump Set the basket drive block on the basket drive & brake tube Set the spin drum in place and screw the spanner nut using the spanner nut wrench. Make sure is tight Install the tub cover and make sure that the tabs lock in place Install the agitator Connect the 2 fill hoses and open the water faucets Connect the washer to the wall outlet and try it out
